# MDVR cameras

Cameras that connect to an MDVR: an ADAS camera for the road, two DSM cameras for the driver, a BSD camera for the blind spot and an infrared dome camera.

## Products

- [ADAS-CAM: ADAS Camera for MDVR](https://dashcamforcars.com/product/adas-camera/): Road-facing 1080p AI camera with lane, collision and pedestrian alerts
- [AHD003: AHD003 Cabin Dome Camera](https://dashcamforcars.com/product/adh003-advanced-driver-assistance/): Infrared dome camera for the cabin or passenger area, for MDVR systems
- [AHD005: AHD005 DSM Camera](https://dashcamforcars.com/product/adh005-dsm-camera/): 1080p infrared driver camera for fatigue, distraction and helmets
- [DSM-CAM: DSM Camera](https://dashcamforcars.com/product/dsm-camera/): 1080p infrared driver camera with a closed-eye and nodding alarm
- [BSD-CAM: BSD Camera](https://dashcamforcars.com/product/bsd-camera/): Side-mounted 1080p blind-spot camera with night vision for MDVR

These cameras connect to an [MDVR](/product-category/mdvr/). Four of them add one safety function each to the recorder; the fifth is a plain interior camera. The MDVR records their video and events and forwards alerts to your fleet platform.

## Which camera does what

- **[ADAS Camera](/product/adas-camera/)** faces the road and warns of lane departure, forward collision and, below 50 km/h, pedestrians.
- **[DSM Camera](/product/dsm-camera/)** faces the driver and sounds an alarm on closed eyes and head nodding.
- **[AHD005](/product/adh005-dsm-camera/)** also faces the driver. It detects yawning and distraction as well, and whether a hat or helmet is worn.
- **[BSD Camera](/product/bsd-camera/)** mounts on the side of a large vehicle and detects cyclists, pedestrians and cars in the blind zone.
- **[AHD003](/product/adh003-advanced-driver-assistance/)** is an infrared dome camera for the cabin, the aisle or the doors. It runs no AI.

## Who they are for

Operators of buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles who use, or are specifying, an MDVR and want driver warnings from it.

## How to choose

1. **Start with the risk.** Rear-end and lane incidents call for ADAS; long shifts and night driving call for a DSM camera; turns alongside cyclists call for BSD.
2. **Check the recorder.** The WD10 and WD11 run one ADAS, one DMS and two BSD channels together. The WD12 runs ADAS and DMS, with BSD as an option. The cable differs by recorder, so state the model when you order.
3. **Check the power.** The ADAS, DSM, AHD005 and BSD cameras run on 12–24 V. The AHD003 is powered by the recorder through its cable.
4. **Plan the mounting.** Road-facing cameras go high on the windscreen, driver-facing cameras on the dashboard or the A-pillar, and BSD cameras on the side of the body.

The ADAS, DSM, AHD005 and BSD cameras use a 1/2.9-inch CMOS sensor at 1920 × 1080.

## FAQ

### Do these cameras work without an MDVR?

No. They are MDVR accessories: the recorder stores their video and events. The ADAS Camera, for example, has no memory card and records through the MDVR.

### What is the difference between DSM and DMS?

None in practice. DSM (driver status monitoring) and DMS (driver monitoring system) both describe a cabin camera that detects driver fatigue and alerts the driver.

### Do the cameras work at night?

Yes. The DSM Camera, AHD005 and AHD003 use infrared light, and the ADAS and BSD cameras have night vision.
