4G dashcams and MDVRs

4G dashcams and MDVRs have a mobile modem, so managers can watch live video, download clips and receive alerts while the vehicle is on the road.

A 4G dashcam or MDVR carries its own mobile modem and SIM card, so it stays connected wherever there is coverage. Managers watch live video, download clips, receive AI and G-sensor alerts and track the vehicle on a map in the Traqcare app or web platform, without collecting memory cards.

Who 4G is for

Any fleet that manages vehicles it cannot see: trucking, delivery, taxis and ride-hailing, rental fleets and field-service vans. 4G also carries two-way voice on the D9, WD02, A5, A3, A6, A18 and S202, and remote firmware updates.

How to choose

  • Bands. A 4G device only works on the bands its modem covers. The D9 and WD02 ship in regional versions; the A18 covers B1 and B3 only; the D3 covers B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12. Each dashcam's page lists its bands.
  • Cameras. The D9 and WD02 take up to four cameras. The A5, A3, A6, A18 and D3 record front and rear. The D2 has one camera, with a second on request, and the S202 has one. For four 1080p inputs or more, choose an MDVR.
  • AI alerts. ADAS and DMS on the D9; ADAS, DMS and BSD as options on the WD02; DMS or BSD as an option on the S202; ADAS only on the D3.
  • Data plan. You supply a local data SIM. Live view on the sub-stream uses about 40 to 60 MB per camera per hour, and a 15-second 720p event clip about 5.6 MB. Tracking alone uses about 17 MB a month. The 4G data calculator adds these up.
  • Storage. Recording continues to the card when coverage drops. The D9, D2, A5, A3, A6 and S202 take cards up to 512 GB.

This page lists every D4C product that has, or can take, a 4G modem. On the WD10 and WD11 recorders, 4G is an optional module.

Questions about 4G dashcams and MDVRs

Do 4G dashcams need a SIM card?

Yes. Each 4G dashcam or MDVR takes a data SIM from a local carrier. The SIM is not included, so you choose the carrier and plan that suit your coverage.

Can I watch live video on my phone?

Yes. With a 4G model you can watch live video, play back clips and track the vehicle in the Traqcare app for Android and iOS or in the Traqcare web platform.

What happens when the vehicle loses 4G coverage?

The camera keeps recording to its memory card. Live view and uploads stop until coverage returns; the footage from the gap stays on the card and can be downloaded afterwards.
