A fleet dashcam is a single windscreen unit that records the road ahead and, on most models, a second view of the cabin or the rear. Nine of the ten dashcams in our range have a 4G modem and GPS, so managers can watch live video, pull clips and track the vehicle without visiting it. The tenth, the B5, is Wi-Fi only and has no GPS.

Who dashcams are for

Dashcams suit vans, taxis, ride-hailing cars, rental cars and light trucks, where one to four cameras cover the main risks. For four 1080p inputs, eight cameras, passenger counting or a hard disk, look at an MDVR.

How to choose a dashcam

  • Number of views. The D9 and WD02 have road and cabin lenses and take two more cameras, for up to four channels. The B5 has three cameras. The A5, A3, A6, A18 and D3 record front and rear. The D2 has one camera, with a second on request, and the S202 is a single sealed camera.
  • Resolution. The D2, A5 and A3 record the road in 2K (2560 × 1440), 1.78 times the pixels of 1080p; the A6 also records 2K. The B5's front camera records 2304 × 1296.
  • AI alerts. The D9 has ADAS and DMS as standard. The WD02 takes ADAS, DMS and BSD as options, and the S202 takes DMS or BSD. The D3 has ADAS only.
  • Connectivity. 4G is needed for live view and remote clip download. The B5 transfers footage over Wi-Fi to a phone at the vehicle.
  • Storage. Cards up to 512 GB on the D9, D2, A5, A3, A6 and S202; up to 128 GB on the A18, D3 and B5.
  • Voltage. The D9, D2 and S202 take 9–36 V. The A18 takes 9–16 V and is for 12 V vehicles only.
  • Wiring. The WD02 has two IO alarm inputs, RS232 and an SOS button. The D9 has RS232, an SOS input and an output for a fuel or power cut-off relay.

Questions about dashcams

What is the difference between a dashcam and an MDVR?

A dashcam is one unit on the windscreen with one or two built-in lenses; some models add a rear camera on a cable. An MDVR is a separate recorder, mounted out of sight, that records four or eight external cameras, which suits buses and heavy trucks. See our [MDVR range](/product-category/mdvr/).

Do I need a 4G dashcam, or is Wi-Fi enough?

Choose 4G if you want live video, remote clip download and alerts while the vehicle is on the road. Wi-Fi is enough if vehicles return to a depot and footage can be downloaded to a phone at the vehicle.

Which dashcams have ADAS and DMS?

The D9 has ADAS and DMS as standard. The WD02 takes ADAS, DMS and BSD as optional algorithms, and the S202 takes DMS or BSD. The D3 has ADAS warnings only. The D2, A5, A3, A6, A18 and B5 record video without AI alerts.
